University Grants Commission or UGC is a well recognised body. Formed in the year 1956 it is functioning as a very vital statutory body in selecting candidates for lectureship. The Chairman of the organisation is Prof Ved Prakash.
History behind the birth of UGC
There is a long history behind the birth of University Grants Commission. In 1945 in order to look after the proper functioning of three central universities mainly Aligarh, Banaras and Delhi UGC was established. Later in the year 1947 its power was uplifted by entrusting them with the responsibility to look after the working of other Indian universities also. Finally it was in 1956 when University Grants Commission became a statutory body. The organisation has it’s headquarter at New Delhi. It has other centres at major cities of India like Kolkata, Bhopal, Pune, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore respectively.
Procedure of examination in computer science under UGC
Computer Science is a very important subject in University Grants Commission examination. The paper for the examination is quite different compared to other subjects. There will be two papers mainly. Paper II will consist of only 50 objective type questions such as matching, true or false, assertions etc. This paper will carry total 100 marks. Paper III will consist of two parts namely Part A and Part B. It will be a bit tough paper. In Paper A candidates will find 10 short type of questions. It will carry 16 marks each. On the other hand in Paper B there will be one question from each elective. Candidates will attempt only one question of 800 words which will carry 40 marks.
