Early life
Granite Xhaka was born on September 27, 1992 to Kosovo-Albania’s parents in Switzerland. He grew up in Basel with his brother Taulan, an older year, who is also a professional soccer. At the age of four he was at the training site at FC Concordia Basel. At the age of ten, he turned to the Department of Youth FC Basel, and in 2010 he made his debut in the first team. He remained loyal to the club until 2012 before moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
Career
Granite Xhaka achieved the success of his first football in the Department of Youth FC Basel. He was on the first team team for the first time in the 2010/11 season. Already in his debut for FC Basel in an official match, qualifying for the Champions League against VSC Debrecen on July 28, 2010, he scored. With FC Basel he is a Swiss Champion twice. From 2010 to 2012 he played for FC Basel in a total of 44 matches and scored two goals.
In the 2012/13 season he moved to Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he received a contract until June 2015 and immediately became a regular player. In February 2015, his contract was extended prematurely until June 2019 because of his strong show. He was considered a leader in the team and selected team captain in September 2015. During his time in Borussia, he played a total of 140 competitive matches and scored nine goals.
For the 2016/17 season, Xhaka was transferred to Arsenal with a transfer fee of 45 million euros. This is the highest transfer fee ever achieved for players in the history of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Therefore Xhaka is considered a record of transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In 2017 he won the British Cup and the Super Cup with Arsenal. His contract with Arsenal runs until June 2021.
Xhaka is also a regular player on the Swiss national team. He made his debut for U-17 in September 2008. With the team he became world champion in the U-17 World Championship in Nigeria in 2009. Since then he has established in 125 matches for the national team and has scored 20 goals.

In the 2016 European Championship in France, both of them met on June 11 in Switzerland against the Albanian match in the group phase. Switzerland won the match 0-1 and went to the round of 16. It was the first time two brothers played each other in EM match.
