Maths is a compulsory subject in the board examination. The subject being a top scoring one can fetch you good marks and can even raise your percentage. But also the subject is famous for being difficult. It scares the wit out of many students.
1. Start early
The best way to ace the subject is having an early start. You cannot master the subject in a few days. So, kickstart your studies and practice for the subject right from the start of the year.
2. Practice
Mathematics is all about practice. The more you practice the better you get at it. Try to solve different types of questions for the same concept. Try to cover and solve all the questions given in the textbook completely. Once you are done with the textbook you can try enhancing your knowledge by solving the questions of some good reference book.
3. Be attentive
To grab the concept you need to be attentive in class. Pay attention to what the teacher is teaching. It will be easier for you to understand the subject. Sleeping or being distracted in the class can cost you marks in the exams.
4. Ask for help
If you do not understand how your teacher solved the question or if you are confused about a particular step in the calculation, ask the teacher for help. Do not hesitate in asking for an explanation if you do not understand the concept. You can also take help of the internet. 5. Group study
Study in groups can be beneficial. You can help your friend with something that he/she doesn’t understand and which you are good at. This will fortify your knowledge. You can also get help from your group member in a concept you don’t understand.
6. Solve previous papers
Make it a point that you solve the previous year papers. Try to solve the papers of the last three years. Solving them will give you confidence and you will understand the pattern of the questions asked.
7. Manage time
Make a routine and follow it strictly. Devote an hour daily to practice the subject. Making a study dealing with the subject will help you to get good grades.
8. Study in chunks
If you think that you will be able to cover the entire syllabus in one go, then you are thinking to achieve the impossible. Break your syllabus into chunks like difficult and easy. Work on the difficult chunk first as it will need more concentration and time. Once you have completed it you can move to the easy portion.
9. Don’t cram
Cramming is a big no in the case of mathematics. You cannot mug the answers and expect to get good grades. So, understand the concept as a clear concept. A clear concept is the only thing by which you will be able to solve the problems.
10. Notes
Make notes of the important formulae and theorem. Keep them handy as they will allow you to quickly revise them before the exams. Go through them on a daily basis so the important stuff.
